Rio Tinto was seeking to make cost reductions in Health, Safety and Environmental Operations but were aware of the critical need to maintain a professional service that in no way added any risk to their ways of working. I facilitated design workshops with support services leadership teams that allowed us together to shape an updated operating model that could operate at lower cost. Savings were generated through reshaping of role definitions, implementing changes to shift patterns, and making regional vs local activity operating model changes.
