Worked as an Operating model design and implementation lead for a global engineering services organisation who were in deep financial trouble under intense competition from lower cost competitors.
We developed a target operating model (TOM) design that moved core process activities from 80 global centres into a single Indian engineering centre. This involved a deep analysis of all processes, breaking them down into distinct ‘capabilities’ before determining the appropriate physical location for each capability in a future state model. We then managed the programme office and change management teams tasked with rapidly planning, communicating and managing all future state organisation design and transition activity.
The success of this programme (implemented from start to finish in 6 months) created a secure financial future for the business and allowed the company to compete for business on a more even footing with Chinese and Indonesian competitors.
