Bacardi had grown steadily through a combination of organic growth and acquisition. The leadership team for Global Operations saw an opportunity to standardise and streamline plant operations and at the same time clarify the division of responsibilities between Group Functions in Geneva and in-country operations around the globe. As Organisation Design Lead I worked with the CHRO and Senior Leadership Team for Global Operations as well as representatives from all major International Operations to design and size a ‘Role Model Organisation.’ This blueprint clarified the capabilities required at Group, Country and Plant levels and designed the optimal size and structure for all production and support functions in all Bacardi facilities. The model was applied to each individual country and implementation plans were developed and agreed with each Country and / or major manufacturing facility lead. The project identified savings opportunities in excess of $30m and created stronger relationships between Group Operations and individual plant leadership teams.
